ALEXIA MINTSOULI

The designer behind the brand, Architect and Designer Alexia Mintsouli, is particularly interested in crafting extraordinary contemporary design pieces with sublime characteristics. One of her key design principles is to combine her unique ideas, her marble-based origins and her technical knowledge on interior design and architecture to deliver high-end furniture and accessories.

Her love for marble was well-established long before her love for Architecture and Design, as she grew up in a marble factory. Marble is a very common but at the same time a timeless material. Designing with marble was a great challenge for her because apart from the design process, she had to consider many technical difficulties. As it is quite obvious from her work, she roots for geometry and strong contrasts. Her goal was not just to create decorative design items but also to stimulate a feeling of amaze without losing the aesthetic balance. The first collection was from its starts recognised as a series with a unique identity and therefore the brand has expanded to projects all over thw world, collaborating with interior designers in Miami, Paris, Mallorca, London etc.

THE MATERIALS

The word "marble" derives from the Ancient Greek μάρμαρον (mármaron), from μάρμαρος (mármaros), "crystalline rock, shining stone". Marble is a rock resulting from metamorphism of sedimentary carbonate rocks, most commonly limestone or dolomite rock. Metamorphism causes variable recrystallization of the original carbonate mineral grains.

From the quarry and until they are loaded onto containers ready for shipment, marble slabs go through different transformation phases depending on the needs. Marble and stone collected from all over the world and combined carefully with timber and metal details are the main materials featured, with the marble to stand as the brand’s main material used for the new range of tables launched in 2018. Every product is a result of a handmade process and every piece is unique. EVERYTHING STARTS FROM THE SELECTION OF THE PERFECT RAW MATERIAL.
